Born in The Big Easy, raised in South Florida & Southern California, Tamara Vanessa started her artistic journey very young. She began sewing at the age of six and started playing viola at the age of eleven. By the time she was 14, she had performed many concerts in jr high & high school. in 1994 she was part of the viola section in the Miami High School Honor Orchestra, performing at the University of Miami.
Moving to Los Angeles in 1995, she attended The Los Angeles County High School for the Arts, Graduating in 1998, she also performed with the Claremont Young Musicians Orchestra (CYMO) She studied the "Suzuki Method" with private violin & viola teacher, Laura Roski-Santoni. In the summer of 1997, Tamara toured Europe while in the cymo, performing five concerts at The Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria; Rudolfinum in Prague, Czech Republic; the Schonbrunn Palace in Vienna, Austria; the Kleine Theater in Oberammergau, Germany; & at the South Bohemia Music Festival in Bechyne, Czech Republic.
She continued her classical music education at Florida International University in Miami, Fl. from 1998-2000, where she also composed electronic music, She had private viola lessons with Chauncey Patterson.
While studying viola at FIU, Tamara also worked in the Theatre department as the Assistant to the Costume Designer, which was her first job. She would perform numerous concerts with FIU’s orchestra & then work next door in the costume shop, altering & building costumes for FIU’s Theatre Department. Tamara assisted in costume builds for numerous stage performances from 1998-2001.
Returning back to Los Angeles in 2002, Tamara attended the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising studying Fashion Design.
From 2004-2016, Tamara was Christopher Voelker’s office assistant, helping him prepare for photo shoots, organizing his digital & print catalogue, as well as modeling for his artistic photos. In late 2008, She designed for the company SphynxCatWear, a clothing company designed specifically for the Sphynx cat breed. This includes prototype samples, fittings, & patterns drafted for mass production.
She is currently in the Entertainment Department of Universal Studios Hollywood working in Costumes Fabrication / Production , Building, altering, & distressing costumes for the Theme Park, and the marquee events of Halloween Horror Nights & Grinchmas. She is in the 768 Union Theatrical Wardrobe.
